Wanda LandesWanda May Landes, 95, of Rushville, formerly of Beardstown, died at 8:50 p.m. July 14, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Rushville.

She was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Browning, a daughter of William Darius and Rose Workman Farwell. She first married Robert Calvin Heffren. She later married Dewey Landes on Sept. 28, 1972, in Beardstown. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2007.

She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Dean, Louis, Arthur, Philip and Billy Farwell; and three sisters, Ina Curless, Betty Hulvey and Suzanne Farwell.

Surviving are one daughter, Brenda (and Gary) McDonald of Rushville; one son, Bob (and Leann) Heffren of Ripley; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She worked at Capital Records in Jacksonville for over 35 years. She then worked for the Beardstown School District in the cafeteria.

She was a member of Beardstown Southern Baptist Church where she taught Bible school for years and sang in the church choir.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Daryl Vermillion officiating. Burial was in the Browning Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
