Robert Calvin Heffren, 79, of Rushville died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at his home.

He was born Oct. 30, 1925, near Lewistown, Fulton County, a son of Michael and Nellie Edlin Heffren. He married Wava Clements on April 28, 1965, in Beardstown. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Brenda McDonald of Rushville; one son, Bobby of Ripley; two grandchildren, two stepdaughters, Sharon Hankins of Rushville and Jeanne Hogg of Athens; two stepsons, Stephen Lee of Chicago and David Allen of Rushville; one sister, Margaret McKenzie of Cuba; two grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Heffren.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, the Ford garage in Havana, Gibb & Cal's Car Sales in Rushville and Rushville Motors, retiring in 1991.

Cremation was accorded. Memorial services were held Tuesday at Browning Cemetery with Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
