Petie Hamm, Sr., 77, a lifetime resident of the Bluff City area, died Sunday evening, Aug. 8, at the Graham Hospital in Canton following a long illness.Petie Hamm, Sr., 77, a lifetime resident of the Bluff City area, died Sunday evening, Aug. 8, at the Graham Hospital in Canton following a long illness.
He was born July 5, 1894, a son of Peter and Amanda Lane Hamm. He married Maye Curless on May 30, 1913. She survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Dallas and Petie, Jr., of Browning, J. C. of Bluff City, Dale of Bath, Virgil of Wee Ma Tuk Hills and Marshall of Bartonville; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Wanda) Miller of Route 1, Astoria, and Mrs. Harold (Glenna) Fischer of Bath; 23 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Auston Hamm, of Rural Astoria; and one sister, Mrs. Stella Daken of St. Petersburg, Fla.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Homer, and two sisters, Mrs. Fairy Hughes and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home with Rev. Lyle Bullard officiating. Burial will be in the Sheldons Grove Cemetery.
