Ted CurlessTed K. Curless, 86, of Pekin died at 6:55 a.m. Mar. 29, 2010, at his residence.

He was born June 29, 1923, in Astoria, a son of Hugh F. and Susie Farwell Curless. He married Ruby M. Simmons on Sept. 15, 1945, in Peoria. She died Dec. 5, 1991.

He also was preceded in death by one son, Randy Dale Curless; one daughter, Brenda Sue Curless; three sisters; and two brothers.

Surviving are one daughter, Marsha L. (and Cary) Craven of Pekin; one son, Larry R. Curless of Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, John Curless of Astoria; four sisters, Olive France of Havana, Edith Lee and Doris Robertson, both of Ipava, and Myrna Phillips of Astoria; and four grandchildren.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 30 years, retiring on April 30, 1976, as general superintendent of the wire mill.

He was a former member of Industrial Engineering Society and National Wire Association.

He was a member of Joseph Robbins Lodge 930, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Peoria and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.

He formerly attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.

Services were held Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes and Crematory in Pekin with Pastor Wayne Curless officiating. Burial was in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria with military rites accorded by United States Army and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
