Grace Brown

Grace BrownGrace Brown, 96, of Aurora, formerly of Astoria and Phoenix, died at 1:15 p.m. Jan. 3, 2013, at Rush-Copley Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 1, 1916, in Sheldons Grove, a daughter of Joseph and Annie Bucher Blickenstaff. She married Wayne Bucy. She later married Melvin "Doc" Brown of Astoria. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy (and Ruby), Wilbur (and Francis) and Herbert (and Verna) Blickenstaff; and two sisters, Mary (and William) Palmer and Josephine (and Charles) Myers.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith (and Ray) Rhoades of Washington and Sharon Kay of Aurora; one stepdaughter, Eadie (and Clarence) Shawgo of Cambridge; one stepson, Melvin Jr. (and Carrie) of Lake Oswego, Ore.; six grandchildren; four step grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren and two "special" grandsons.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Astoria and Church of Christ in Phoenix.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Woodland Church of the Brethren.
