Wilbur Blickenstaff Dies In California

Wilbur Blickenstaff, 47, of 900 N. Central Ave., Turlock, Calif., died Monday about 6 a.m. after being in a traffic accident on Saturday. He was one of the managers of the Swanson Turkey Farms of Turlock and was on his way home from work when the accident happened. He was in his pickup truck which was hit broadside.

Mr. Blickenstaff was born April 25, 1915, near Astoria, a son of Joseph L. and Annie Bucher Blickenstaff. He was baptized in the Church of the Brethren on Oct. 16, 1927, and had attended the Baptist church in Turlock since moving to California.

He was united in marriage on July 25, 1954, in California, to Frances Mae Wilson of Astoria. Two daughters blessed this home, Diane, 7, and Sherrie, 6.

Survivors in addition to his wife and children in Turlock include his mother, Mrs. Annie Blickenstaff of Astoria; two brothers, Roy of Chicago and Herbert of Browning; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Brown of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Mary Palmer of Vermont, and Mrs. Josephine Myers of Astoria; along with a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. and Mrs. Hart Wilson left by plane Sunday to be with their daughter. Wilbur Wilson, Herbert Blickenstaff, Mary Palmer and Josephine Myers left Monday afternoon by car to attend the funeral services and burial in Turlock, Calif.
