Astoria Woman Found Dead

Mrs. Lydia Bucher, well known Astoria resident, was found dead at her home on East Broadway this morning at about 7 o’clock. She lived alone and had been under a physician’s care for sometime. She was aged 74 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Mrs. Bucher was born Dec. 28, 1873 in Lebanon County, Pa., daughter of Rev. Cyrus and Leah Gibble Bucher. She was united in marriage with Isaac Bucher, Dec. 28, 1901. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1919.

Mrs. Bucher is survived by four sons, Caleb Bucher, Allen Bucher, and Isaac Bucher, all of Astoria and Irwin Bucher of Indianapolis, Ind., one daughter, Mrs. Annabel Howdyshell of Ursa, Ill., eighteen grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Wickert, Mrs. Ida Senger, Mrs. Annie Blickenstaff, Mrs. Fannie Stambaugh, Mrs. Lizzie Lam, Cyrus Bucher, Harvey Bucher, Ezra Bucher, all of Astoria.

Mrs. Bucher united with the Church of the Brethren, May 4, 1890 while attending Mt. Morris college. She lived an exemplary Christian life.

Funeral services will be held at the Astoria Church of the Brethren Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. G. G. Canfield, assisted by Rev. A. L. Whitmore. Burial in Woodland cemetery.
