Anabel Houdyshell, 91, formerly of Ursa, died at 8:05 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2000, in Joplin, Mo.
She was born March 29, 1909, in Astoria, a daughter of Isaac and Lydia (Bucher) Bucher. She married Gerald W. Houdyshell on April 4, 1936, in Quincy. He died October 29, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Caleb, Allen, Isaac and Irwin Bucher; one great-grandson; and an infant sister.
Surviving are one son, Gerald D. Houdyshell (and Pat) of Joplin; one daughter, Janis Frese of Harrisburg; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Ursa Christian Church and its Live Wire Sunday school class. She was a graduate of Astoria High School and attended Gem City College. She moved to Joplin in October 1995.
Services were held Thursday at Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with her grandson Rev. Doug Houdyshell officiating. Burial was in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa.
