Merritt E. Weese, 91, of Astoria, died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1995, at Astoria Healthcare Center.
He was born May 2, 1904, in Fulton County, a son of Walter and Hattie Mae Derry Weese. He married Lola F. Zeeck on Aug. 7, 1940 in St. Louis. She died Oct. 25, 1989. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are three sons, John Weese of Galesburg, James Weese of St. Joseph, Mo., and Jack Weese of Aledo; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde Weese of Astoria, Sheldon Weese of Lewistown and Carl Weese of Cuba; and three sisters, Muriel Markley and Ida Clanin, both of Astoria and Darlene Hood of Frederick.
He worked at International Harvester for 25 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rushville.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Joseph Eckman officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.
