Sheldon E. Weese, 87, of Lewistown, formerly of Astoria, died at 10:58 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born July 31, 1909, in Browning, a son of Walter and Hattie Mae Derry Weese. He married Alice Mildred Ackerson in 1939. She died Aug. 25, 1978. Three sisters and four brothers also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Ila Hadsall of Lewistown and Juanita Irwin of Urbana, Ohio; one stepson, James R. Dick of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Carl Weese of Cuba; two sisters, Darlene Hood of Frederick and Ida Clanin of Astoria; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a coal miner for 40 years and was a caretaker at Anderson Lake for eight years, retiring in 1968. He was a member of Faith Center Ministries.
Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Larry Hance officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery in Summum.
