MARGARET L. (BROWN) THOMPSON

Margaret Thompson

Margaret L. Thompson, 95, of Astoria, formerly of Ipava, died at 7:15 a.m. Jan. 19, 2009, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

She was born July 25, 1913, in Ipava, a daughter of Olin and Fairie Wickert Brown. She married William Elzie Thompson on Feb. 6, 1936, in Macomb. He died May 8, 1983.

She also was preceded in death by one grandson, Thomas Lee Kaup; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Reanne Kaup; two brothers, Boyd Brown and Dane Brown; and one sister, Mildred Ebbert.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Ann (and Marvin) Kaup of Chewelah, Wash.; one son, Richard Lee Thompson of Ipava; one brother, Wade (and Alta) Brown of Astoria; three sisters, Ann Guida of Napa, Calif., Alice Kelleher of Los Angeles, Calif., and Phyllis Strode of Macomb; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was a corn sorter for PAG in Astoria, and a homemaker.

She was a member of Ipava Christian Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Ray Greenfield officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Prairieland Hospice of Galesburg, Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center or her church.
