Richard L. Thompson, 69, of Ipava died at 3:38 p.m. Nov. 5, 2012, at his son's home in Ipava.

He was born Feb. 16, 1943, in Lewistown, the son of William Elzie and Margaret Lucille Brown Thompson. He married Emma Marie Corey.

Surviving are one son, Scott Thompson of Ipava; one sister, Patricia (and Marvin) Kaup of Chewelah, Wash.; and one grandson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1967-68 with a rank of SP4 (T).

He was a farmer.

He was a member of Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont and Pleasant Township Board.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery with military rites provided by Carroll Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program, Macomb.
