Marvin Kaup

Marvin KaupMarvin Joseph Kaup, 81, of Hartsell, Ala., died July 22, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in West Point, Neb., a son of Alphonse and Alma Meister Kaup. He married Patricia (Pat) Ann Thompson on June 2, 1956, in Omaha, Neb. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Darrell, Cheryl, David and Doug; five sisters, Marilyn, Charlene, Betty, Marjorie and Connie; two brothers, Ed and Jerry; 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim; one son, Thomas; and one granddaughter, Taylor.

He started his career working at Union Pacific Railroad and advanced to manager at Goodyear before buying his own gas station in Covina, Calif., and managing many other Texaco stations. He retired as an insurance agent in 2003.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hartselle at 4 p.m. Saturday. A second memorial service will be held at St. Louise de Marillac Church in Covina at 10 a.m. Aug. 24. Graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Glendora at noon. Peck Funeral Home, 1600 Hwy 31 SW, PO Box 427, Hartselle, AL 35640, is in charge of arrangements.
