Wade Brown

Wade A. Brown, 93, of Havana, formerly of Astoria, died at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 30, 2014, at Havana Health Care.

He was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Ipava, a son of Olin and Fairie Wickert Brown. He married Alta Walton on May 28, 1955, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Margie (and Steve) Crumrine of Spokane Valley, Wash.; one sister, Phyllis Strode of Macomb; one granddaughter; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Kelleher, Anne Guida, Margaret Thompson and Mildred Ebbert; and two brothers, Boyd and Dane Brown.

He worked for State of Illinois Highway Department as a blacktopping foreman for 25 years. When he retired, he did what he always wanted to do — he farmed until he wasn’t able anymore.

He was a member of Astoria Church of Christ.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Eric Trone officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery.
