Alta L. Brown, 99, of Industry, formerly of Astoria, died at 10:15 p.m. Sept. 12, 2021, at home.Alta L. Brown, 99, of Industry, formerly of Astoria, died at 10:15 p.m. Sept. 12, 2021, at home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Browning, a daughter of Clifford and Iva Ritchey Walton. She married Wade Arlo Brown on May 28, 1955, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2014.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Margie Crumrine; three sisters, Ramona Lancaster, Lola Anliker and Wilda Lancaster; and two brothers, Everette and John Walton.
Surviving are one granddaughter, Cassandra (and Brandon) Stoddart of Jamestown, N.D.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She worked at Nielson’s Grocery in Vermont.
She lived in several homes throughout her lifetime, including her Aunt and Uncle Addie and Dalt Miller’s home. She had been living with her niece Joyce Spring and her husband since 2013. She was a member of Astoria Church of Christ.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Eric Trone officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Vermont Cemetery in Vermont.
