Rosa Lee StambaughRosa Lee Stambaugh, 91, of Beardstown died at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 2, 2016, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born March 28, 1924, in Bader, a daughter of John and Margaret Louise Douglas McCombs. She married Noal Smith on July 6, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He preceded her in death. She later married Junior Bill Stambaugh on Aug. 8, 1999, in Browning. He also preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Harry, Stuart, Jack and Charles McCombs.

Surviving are one son, Mike Smith of Atwood; one sister, Doris Thomas of Astoria; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

She was the Browning Village Clerk for 24 years, an assistant to Chiropractor Gordon Stevens in Beardstown, correspondent for the Astoria South Fulton Argus and the Rushville Times and was a volunteer at the Browning Senior Citizens Center.

She became a member of Bader Christian Church at age 12. She later transferred her membership to Browning Christian Church. After marrying Junior Bill, she became a member of Astoria Assembly of God Church. She was a past president and member of the Astoria American Legion Auxiliary. She also was a Browning Township Trustee.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 6, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. Burial was in the Bader Cemetery.
