Stuart D. McCombs, 71, of Metamora, formerly of Peoria, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at his home.

He was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Kewanee, a son of John and Louise Douglas McCombs. He married Lois Derry on Oct. 9, 1949, in Bader. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Karen McCombs of Princeville, Kimberly Bacon of Peoria and Peggy Morris of Canal Winchester, Ohio; one son, Randy of Metamora; two brothers, Jack of Seffner, Fla., and Charles of Petersburg; two sisters, Rosa Lee Smith and Doris Thomas, both of Browning; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of American Legion Post 2 in Peoria. He worked for Pabst Brewing Co. in Peoria Heights for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Teamsters Local 627 in Peoria. He was a member of Forest Hills Christian Church in Tampa, Fla.

A memorial service was held Saturday at American Mausoleum chapel, Peoria, with entombment following the service. Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co., Peoria.
