Robert E. McCombs Of Bader Dies

Robert E. McCombs, 55, of Bader died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1981, at Beardstown Hospital in Beardstown.

Born Feb. 11, 1926, in Bader, the son of John and Louise (Douglas) McCombs, he married Betty Miller Dec. 6, 1945, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Louise McCombs of Bader; a son, Jerry of Peoria; one daughter, Mrs. Janice Johnson of Plymouth; three grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Lee Smith of Browning and Mrs. Doris Thomas of Astoria; and four brothers, Harry of Kansas, Stuart of Peoria Heights, Jack of Tampa, Fla., and Charles of Petersburg.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Astoria American Legion. He was also a member of the Bader Christian Church, was retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co., and was a member of the Friday Night Mixed Bowling league of the Vermont Bowl.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Bader Christian Church with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial was in the Bader Cemetery.

Robert McCombs Dies At Age 55

Robert McCombs, 55, of Bader, died about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1981, at his home.

Among his survivors are his wife, Betty; one son, Jerry; one daughter, Janice Johnson; several grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Louise McCombs; and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were incomplete at press time but will probably be held Friday afternoon.

Shawgo Memorial Home of Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
