Keith Smith Sr.Keith W. Smith Sr., 62, of Ray died at 7:41 p.m. Nov. 3, 2008, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Ray, a son of Dale and Maxine (Smith) Smith.

Surviving are two sons, Keith Jr. (and Linette) Smith of Rushville and Brian Smith of Ray; two brothers, Jack Smith of Macomb and Bill (and Stella) Smith of Beardstown; four sisters, Shirley (and Gene) Price of Rushville, Maxine “Dutch” Stambaugh and Sally Asa, both of Ray and Patty Smith of Chickasha, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jordan Diane Smith.

He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran serving with the 25th infantry.

He worked as a meat cutter for Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for 19 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and Rushville Community Saddle Club.

Services were held Friday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. John Sowers officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army Burial Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Memorials may be made to his grandchildren’s college education fund.
