Ruth A. Stambaugh Dies In Rock Island

Mrs. John C. (Ruth A.) Stambaugh, 75, of Astoria, died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Rock Island.

She was born July 7, 1896, in Brown County, a daughter of Alvin and May Long Lear. She was married to James G. Belville, who preceded her in death in 1918. On Nov. 18, 1919 she was married to John C. Stambaugh in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ann Phelps and Miss Lucretia Stambaugh, both of Rock Island and Mrs. Ellen Day of Macomb; two sons, Clyde Belville of Rock Island and John Stambaugh of St. Augustine; 21 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Flora Lashbrook of Rushville, Mrs. Hildreth Stambaugh of Rock Island, Mrs. Lula Irwin of Barry and Mrs. Bernice Palmer of New Athens; three brothers, Clyde Lear of Moline, Richard Lear of Rock Island and James Lear of Salt Lake, Colo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Dale Eddington officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
