Allie Iona Shawgo Dies At Age 77

Mrs. Burley (Allie Iona) Shawgo, 77, died Monday evening in Culbertson Hospital in Rushville following a lengthy illness.

Born June 22, 1891 in Pleasant Township, she was a daughter of John and Annie Eppert Huff. She was married on Jan. 12, 1910 to Burley Shawgo, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lola Blodgett and Mrs. Vera Brehm, both of Astoria; eight grandchildren, Loren Danner, Bill Danner, Wendell Danner, Willadean Shaffer, Estyl Gunter, Larry Brehm, Sondra Brehm, all of Astoria, Lola Mae Taylor of Lewistown; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloe Ogden of Foster, Mo.; and one brother, Cleve Huff of Ipava. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Shawgo was a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Robert Winkler officiating. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
