Betty RhoadesBetty Lee (McKinley) Rhoades, 95, of DeKalb died Dec. 14, 2019, at her home.

She was born April 29, 1924, in Astoria, a daughter of Clarence and Nellie Curless McKinley. She married Robert Rhoades on June 14, 1942, in Astoria. He preceded her in death in 2004.

She also was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Clarence and Naomi McKinley; her mother and stepfather, Nellie and Harve Ruth; one half brother, John McKinley; and three stepsisters, Maxine Smith, Wanda Fouts and Betty Brown.

Surviving are one son, Jim (and Sharon) Rhoades of DeKalb; two granddaughters, Kristina (and Ryan) Walter of Sugar Grove and Melissa (and Zach) Beck of DeKalb; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Astoria High School in 1942.

She and her husband moved to DeKalb in 1946.

She was employed at Brody Coat Factory, Wiseman Insurance Company and Amos Insurance Company. She was a member of First Methodist Church in DeKalb.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Ben Murray of Grace Bible Church of Astoria officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the DeKalb Public Library in memory of Betty Rhoades, in care of Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb.
