Harve S. Ruth Of Astoria Dies

Harve S. Ruth, 80, of Astoria died unexpectedly at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, July 13, 1975, at his home.

Mr. Ruth was born April 30, 1895, in Ipava, a son of John and Sarah King Ruth. He married Edna Gruber on Aug. 6, 1916, in Astoria. She died on July 23, 1927. He then married Nellie Curless McKinley on Jan. 17, 1934, in Canton. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Wanda Lee Fouts of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Iona Maxine Smith of Ala Lomas, Calif., and Mrs. Betty Louise Brown of Chillicothe; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty Lee Rhoades of DeKalb; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Seven sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Ruth was a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 1315 in DeKalb.

He was a farmer early in life and later sold feed for Moorman Feed Co. for 20 years. He was employed by Northern Illinois University for 14 years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
