MARY JOSEPHINE (SMITH) ROBERTSON

Mary Robertson

Mary J. Robertson, 72, of Browning died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

She was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Disco, a daughter of Loren W. and Mary Carnes Smith. She married Edmon "Cotton" Robertson on June 11, 1950, in Rushville. He died March 8, 1996.

She also was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Morrill; two brothers, Locie Smith and George Smith; and one grandson, Joseph Lee Spencer.

Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis (and Robert) Pilger of Browning, Brenda (and David) Spencer of Vermont and Sandy (and Bill) Hamlin of Rushville; three sons, Jerry (and Cheryl) of Astoria, Donnie of Browning and Tim (and Stacie) of Hannibal, Mo.; four brothers, Jim (and Ruth) Smith of Laurie, Mo., Bill (and Clara) Smith of Chillicothe, Orville (and Juanita) Smith of Silver Springs, Fla., and Sam (and Ella Mae) Smith of Bushnell; two sisters, Mildred (and Cliff) Still of Astoria and Arlene (and Ray) Willis of Glendive, Mont.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She worked at Astoria Care Center and at the Subway Cafe in Astoria.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 53 in Vermont.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church in Astoria, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Jim Comstock officiating. Burial was in Ridgeville Cemetery in Browning.
