Samuel B. Smith, 79, of Bushnell died at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 5, 2016, at home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Schuyler County, a son of Loren W. and Mary E. Carnes Smith. He married Ella M. Leach on May 9, 1960, in Lafollette, Tenn. She survives.
Also surviving are four children, Rick (and Diane) Smith of Rushville, David Smith of Macomb, Mary (and Brad) Fouts of St. Augustine and Samuel C. (and Chris) Smith of Bushnell; one sister, Arlene (and Ray) Willis of Laurel, Mont.; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine siblings, Locie Smith, James Smith, Wilbert Smith, Mildred Still, Bob Smith, Mary Robertson, Orville D. Smith and Betty Morrall.
He worked for Vaughn of Bushnell for 36 years retiring in 1998. He was a long time member of the Bushnell VFW.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Willis officiating. Burial was in the Bushnell Cemetery.
