Mrs. Flossie Rose Dies At Age 78

Mrs. Samuel J. (Flossie J.) Rose, 78, of Morton, formerly of Astoria, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 1974, in the Fon Du Lac Nursing Manor in East Peoria.

She was born Jan. 1, 1896 near Astoria, the daughter of William and Anna Engle Farwell. She married Samuel Rose on July 5, 1913, in Lewistown. He died in January, 1969.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nina Howe of Lewistown and Mrs. Meryle Briney of Ipava; three sons, Robert of Peoria, Max of Sacramento, Calif., and Stanley of Morton; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, John Farwell of Summum, Darius Farwell of Havana, and Robert Farwell of Peoria.

One son, four sisters, and one brother preceded her in death.

She was a member of the old Marbletown Church and was attending the Morton Christian Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Lloyd Dunn officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Astoria.
