Robert E. Rose Sr., 84, of Peoria died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Proctor Hospital.

He was born July 3, 1920, in Astoria, a son of Samuel J. and Flossie J. Farwell Rose. He married Elizabeth J. Bonomo on Dec. 17, 1949, in Peoria Heights. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Robert Jr. (and Lori) and James, both of Peoria, Jonathan of East Peoria and Scott (and Michele) of Washington; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Stanley (and Connie) Rose of Morton and two sisters, Nina (and Charles) Howe of Lewistown and Meryle Briney of Ipava.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He was a World War II Army veteran and later served in the Air National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 2.

He worked as a factory scheduler at Caterpillar Inc., retiring in 1983 after 37 years.

He was a member of Illinois Masonic Lodge 263, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Temple, Shrine, Legion of Honor and the Midwest Antique Tool Collectors Association.

He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and its FTF Sunday school class.

Services were held Nov. 22 at his church with the Revs. Douglas Lightly and Ben Johnston officiating. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital.
