Russell Painter Dies On Friday

Russell “Sandy” Painter, 68, of Bath, formerly of the Sheldons Grove and Beardstown areas, died at the Hopedale Medical Complex at 7:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 1974.

He was born in Sheldons Grove Aug. 5, 1905, a son of David and Emma Brehm Painter. He married Constance Crable.

Surviving are his widow; a son, Jack of Beardstown; three daughters, Mrs. Ramona Gorsage of Springfield, Mrs. Norma Merano of Kincaid and Mrs. Sharon Lindsey of Delavan; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Lane of Browning; and four sisters, Mrs. Faye McDermott of Concord, Mrs. Flossie Angelo of Meredosia, Mrs. Emma Wherley and Mrs. Pauline Cassel, both of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.

Mr. Painter, a member of the United Methodist Church, was a retired employee of Farmers Terminal Grain Co.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in the Sheldons Grove Cemetery.
