Pauline Cassel

Pauline L. Cassel, 91, of Lady Lake, Fla., formerly of Astoria, died at 6:36 p.m. March 19, 2011, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center in Leesburg, Fla.

She was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Sheldons Grove, a daughter of David and Emma Brehm Lane Painter. She married Charles Cassel on June 14, 1954, in Palmyra, Mo. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Joyce (and Tom) Allen of Aurora, Colo.; one son, Alan (and Patricia) Hughes of Astoria; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

She was the owner and operator of Fashion Salon in Astoria. She also worked at Chuck and Bill's Grocery Store in Astoria.

She was a member of Astoria American Legion Post #25 Auxiliary.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Schultz officiating. Visitation will be held at noon to service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Astoria Cemetery.
