David Painter, Sheldons Grove, Dies Last Evening

David Painter, a life long and well known resident of near Sheldons Grove, died at the Culbertson hospital, Rushville, at five o’clock Tuesday evening, following a six weeks illness.

Mr. Painter was born in Hickory township, Schuyler county, Dec. 24, 1876, a son of Leonard and Matilda Wynn Painter. He was united in marriage to Emma Brehm Lane on August 24, 1901. To them were born five children, namely: Flossie Lau, Chapin; Ethel Etter, Canton; Russell Painter, Browning; Emma Wherley, Browning; Pauline Cassel of Astoria. Also surviving are stepchildren, Paul Lane, Browning, Faye McDermott, Concord, and Dorothy Farwell, Canton; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was the last member of a family of eight children.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Sheldons Grove church, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson. Burial in Astoria cemetery.
