MARY JOSEPHINE (MARKLEY) HAMM

Mary Hamm

Mary J. Hamm, 67, of Astoria, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 1992, at the St. Charles home of her daughter, Julia Vallejo.

She was born Apr. 28, 1925, in Summum, a daughter of Seymer and Rowena Sheckler Markley. She married Jack Hamm on Sept. 26, 1943, in Reno, Nev. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Julia Vallejo; one son, Nick Hamm of Astoria; and five grandchildren.

One sister and one half-brother preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge No. 144 in Astoria. She had been a secretary for a law firm in Havana for 24 years.

Funeral services were held Sunday at her church with Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Astoria United Methodist Church.

Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
