Seymer L. Markley Dies At Age 87

Seymer L. Markley, 87, of Summum died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 1973, at Hills Nursing Home, Rushville.

He was born Dec. 29, 1885, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a son of Abraham and Emma Belle McLaren Markley. He married Rowena L. Sheckler on Dec. 26, 1916, at Havana. She died Oct. 6, 1966.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Betty Spates of Rushville, Mrs. Mary Hamm of Astoria, and Mrs. Walteen Snelton of Glenview; one step-son, Robert Sheckler of Goofy Ridge; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

He was a school teacher in the Summum area for 32 years and a member of the Summum Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home. Rev. Collis Trone officiated and burial was in the Summum Cemetery.
