Mildred FranceMildred Louise France, 91, of Lewistown, died at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Prairie View Care Center.

She was born July 10, 1913, in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, a daughter of William Henry and Loreine McCaughey Hamm. She married Thomas F. France on Nov. 6, 1931, in Peoria. He died Feb. 12, 1972.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Donald France; one daughter, Norma Jean France; two brothers, Billy and Robert Hamm; and one sister, Wilma Baughman.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary France of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; two sons, Thomas Jr. of Galesburg and Philip (and Betty) of Janesville, Wis.; two sisters, Marjorie Deakin of Cuba and Irma (and Marvin) McCormick of Ipava; two brothers, Russell (and Beverly) Hamm of Ipava and Harold (and Patricia) Hamm of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one stepsister, Rosalie (and Charles) France of Ipava; one stepbrother, Bill (and Becky) Henkle of Ipava; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She served on the Bernadotte Election Board and Bernadotte Town Board for many years.

She was a 73-year member of Ipava Order of Eastern Star Chapter 226.

She was active in the Fulton County Spoon River Scenic Drive.

She was a member of Providence Church in Lewistown, where she served as a trustee.

Services were held Monday at Ipava United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Bodamer officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
