Robert Hamm

Robert L. Hamm, 75, of Lewistown died at 11:07 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born March 28, 1928, in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, a son of William H. and Loreine McCaughey Hamm. He married Shirley Chenoweth on Feb. 23, 1952, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Bob (and Rene) of Lewistown; one daughter, Connie Derby of Lewistown; three sisters, Mildred France of Smithfield, Marjorie Deakin of Cuba, and Irma (and Marvin) McCormick of Ipava; two brothers, Russell (and Beverly) of Ipava and Harold (and Patricia) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy; and one sister, Wilma Baughman.

A member of the United Mine Workers of America, he was a coal miner for Peabody and Arsarco Coal Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1978.

He also was a lifelong farmer.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Canton.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Elder Norman Churchill officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery.
