Bernard Fairburn

Bernard M. Fairburn, 70, of Cocoa, Fla., formerly of Havana and Astoria, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1993, at his home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1923 in Canton, a son of Terrance and Nellie Weaver Fairburn. He married Modelle Hampton on June 5, 1948. She died Oct. 29, 1979. He later married Barbara R. Koehler. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Pamela S. Fairburn of Cocoa, Fla.; three stepsons, Donald R. Schisler of Macon, Mo., James P. Schisler of Merritt Island, Fla., and Charles H. Koehler of Waynesville, N. Car.; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Menard of Mattituck, N.Y.; ten grandchildren; four brothers, Hubert Fairburn of St. David, Carlos Fairburn of Canton, Ernest Fairburn of Springville, Tenn., and Delbert Fairburn of Astoria; two sisters, Leona Boyer and Marie Hallam, both of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia, his parents and one sister.

He was a member of the National Management Assn., National Rifle Assn., Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and a charter member of Ducks Unlimited Havana Chapter and North Brevard (Titusville, Fla.). He retired from Rockwell International Corp. at Kennedy Space Center, Fla. in 1984. He received a Silver Snoopy Award presented by the astronauts for outstanding service to the space program.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with Rev. Doug Pfeiffer officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
