CARLOS DWAYNE “RED” FAIRBURN

Carlos Fairburn

Carlos D. “Red” Fairburn, 78, of Canton, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.

He was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Canton, a son of Terrance and Pearl Weaver Fairburn. He married Esther Hughes on Nov. 3, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas. She died Jan. 9, 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Richard D. of Athens; one daughter, Barbara Hedges of Canton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Fairburn of Astoria and Rolland “Breezy” Fairburn of Springfield, Tenn.; two sisters, Marie Hallam and Leona Boyer, both of Canton.

He was a lifelong self-employed carpenter and had formerly worked several years at Demler Lumber Co. in Canton. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post #644 in Fairview.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Paul Walles officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
