Esther I. Fairburn, 75, of Canton, died at 5:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at Graham Hospital Extended Care Unit.
She was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Table Grove, the daughter of Henry and Carrie Smith Hughes. She married Carlos D. Fairburn on Nov. 3, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Richard of Athens; one daughter, Barbara Hedges of Canton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was a clerk at Graham Hospital for many years. She later was a deputy city clerk in Canton, retiring in 1977. She was a former member of Table Grove Community Church.
Services were held Tuesday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Delmar Smith officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
