Clarice DohnerClarice G. Dohner, 84, of Rushville, formerly of Astoria and Vermont, died at 9:55 p.m. April 27, 2013, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Care Center in Rushville.

She was born July 25, 1928, in Vermont, a daughter of David R. and Ethel M. Rowland Dohner.

Surviving are two sisters, Doris (and Ronald) Cook of Industry and Lydia Goodwin of Rushville; one brother, Dr. Russell Dohner of Rushville; 10 nieces and nephews; and many grand and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Dohner; two sisters, Beula Garrabrant and Norma Dohner; and one nephew.

She worked at the telephone office in Macomb for years. In 1955, she helped her brother, Dr. Russell Dohner, start his medical practice in Rushville, purchasing his first car so he could make house calls and managing his office for over 40 years. As the first person to greet patients, she was a familiar face to generations of residents in west central Illinois over the years.

She was a member of Astoria Church of the Brethren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Mark Dohner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
