Lester S. “Shorty” Danner, 75, of 410 N. High, Havana, formerly of Astoria, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 1983, at Menard Convalescent Home at Petersburg.
Born Jan. 9, 1908, in Fulton County, he was the son of William W. and Callie (Shaffer) Danner. He married Lola Shawgo Sept. 20, 1926.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Willadean Shaffer and Mrs. Estyl Gunter, both of Astoria; three sons, Dwayne W. and Loren Danner, both of Astoria, and Wendell Danner of Rushville; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Keyes of Peoria and three brothers, Ross Danner of Ipava, Chester Danner of Summum and Brayton Danner of Lincoln.
One son and one sister died earlier.
He was a retired auto mechanic and a member of the Woodland Church of the Brethren.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.
