Alice ChambersAlice R. Chambers, 89, of Ipava died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.

She was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Bernadotte Township, Fulton County, a daughter of John and Mary Ann Herriford Chenoweth. She married Howard Chambers on April 22, 1931, in Keokuk, Iowa. He died Aug. 26, 1983.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Frank Chambers; one daughter, Connie Fields; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; six brothers, Bernard, Maurice, Harold, Woodrow, Joe and Milton Chenoweth; and three sisters, Ina Lafary, Maxine Chenoweth and Betty Lou Chenoweth.

Surviving are three sons, Lee (and Merry) of Smithfield, Larry (and Elaine) of Ipava and Richard (and Marcia) of Lewistown; four daughters, Dorla Helle of Cuba, Geraldyne Myers and Judy Rench, both of Canton, and Lynn (and Roy) Spangler of Ipava; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nellie Schisler of Ipava.

She was a member of Chapter 226 Order of the Eastern Star and American Legion Post 17 Auxiliary.

Services will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Damien Spikereit officiating. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria.
