Frank E. Chambers, 62, of Ipava died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, in the emergency room at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born May 2, 1939, in Smithfield, a son of Howard and Alice Chenoweth Chambers. He married June Paul on May 20, 1960, in Smithfield. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Ipava; three daughters, Kim (and August) Mauro of Kannapolis, N.C., Kelly Chambers of Lewistown and Dawn Chambers of Ipava; three brothers, Lee (and Merry) of Smithfield, Larry (and Elaine) of Ipava and Richard (and Marcia) of Lewistown; four sisters, Dora Helle of Cuba, Geraldine Myers of Canton, and Judy Rench and Lynn (and Roy) Spangler, both of Ipava; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of Ipava American Legion Post 17.

A member of United Auto Workers Local 974, he worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring on Nov. 1, 1994. He also had served as Bernadotte Road Commissioner for the past four years.

He was a member of Ipava Masonic Lodge, AF&AM, and Ipava Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 226.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Damien Spikereit officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by his American Legion post.
