Nellie SchislerNellie E. Schisler, 92, of Ipava died at 5:25 a.m. Dec. 1, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

She was born June 26, 1920, in Pleasant View, a daughter of John B. and Mary Ann Herriford Chenoweth. She married James Henry Schisler on May 25, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1997.

She also was preceded in death by six brothers, Bernard, Maurice, Woodrow, Joe, Harold and Milton Chenoweth; and four sisters, Ina Lafary, Alice Chambers, Maxine Chenoweth and Betty Lou Chenoweth.

Surviving are three daughters, Beatrice (and David) Meeker of Canton, Barbara Dohner of Ipava and Susan (and David) Blickhan of Quincy; one son, Curtis (and Linda) Schisler of Ipava; 12 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker; a bookkeeper for the family business, Jim's Truck Service in Ipava; and a cook at Verna Morrison's Cafe and Cole's Truck Stop, both in Ipava.

She was a member of Ipava Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she taught Sunday School for many years and served on the church board. She was the first president of Ipava Christian Church Quilters, quilting with them until 2005 when her health began to fail.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Pastor Bob Miner and Pastor Tracy Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Ipava Christian Church, McDonough District Hospital Hospice or the Heartland Healthcare Center Activity Department in Macomb.
