BERNARD F. CHENOWETH

B. F. Chenoweth Is Found Dead

A rural Bernadotte man, Bernard F. Chenoweth, 71, was found dead about noon Thursday, July 24, 1980, north of Ipava where he was picking blackberries. He was found by another man, Dwayne Danner of Ipava, who also was picking berries in the same area.

He reportedly had been in ill health for several years and death was attributed to natural causes.

Born Sept. 7, 1908, in Bernadotte Township, he was a son of John B. and Mary Ann (Herriford) Chenoweth. He married Mary E. Carrison Oct. 27, 1939, in Adair. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Linda Sue) Hibbard of Carthage; one son, John G. of Adair; three grandchildren; three brothers, Maurice of Ipava, Pete of Paducah, Ky., and Joe of Havana, and two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Alice) Chambers of Smithfield and Mrs. James (Nellie) Schisler of Ipava.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Chenoweth once farmed in the old Camp Ellis area, formerly operated a gas station and ice route, was in the produce business and operated a grocery and dry goods store, all in the Ipava area, and also had farmed in the Bernadotte area.

In 1956 he moved to Burnside where he farmed until returning to Bernadotte in 1973.

He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau and Ipava Lodge 213, AF&AM, and had been a member of the Ipava Christian Church for many years.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Clugston Funeral Home at Macomb, with Rev. O. Eugene Moore officiating. There also were Masonic Rites. Burial was in the Ipava Cemetery.
