VeteranHartford Curless Of Rushville Dies

Hartford Curless, 77, of 911 E. Lafayette St., Rushville, died at 6:30 Sunday morning at the Culbertson Hospital in Rushville where he had been a patient since July 9.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville, with Rev. John C. Roberts officiating. Burial was in Rushville Cemetery.

Mr. Curless was born in Fulton County Oct. 16, 1891, the son of Edmond and Nora Fisher Curless. He married Melba Etter at Bloomington Dec. 26, 1931. She survives.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War I and a retired farmer. He also worked with the state highway department for 14 years. He lived in Astoria before moving to Schuyler County in 1939.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold E. (Norma) Smith and Mrs. Lloyd (Peggy) Schisler, both of Rushville; two grandchildren; a brother, Hugh Curless, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Hamm, both of Astoria. His parents, a grandchild, a brother, Harley, and a sister, Pearl, died previously.
