Morris Busby

Morris L. Busby, 77, of Astoria died at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 23, 2006, at his home.

He was born June 17, 1929, in Canton, a son of Henry and Pearl Peterman Busby. He married Ethel Marie Sipes on March 15, 1948. She died March 4, 1964. He then married Ella Mae Shelabarger on Dec. 23, 1964, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Deborah Sheets of Canton, Marsha (and Lindell) Himmel of Forest City, Nancy Gilson of Lincoln and Pamela Shaw of Astoria; one son, Michael (and Tina) of Table Grove; one stepson, Leslie (and Liz) Corman of Nacogdoches, Texas; four stepdaughters, Terry (and Tom) Briggs of Ashland, Sharon Ratcliff of Kilbourne, Julie (and Donald) Anderson of Springfield, Ohio, and Joyce Barnes of Champaign; one sister, Nellie (and Willie) Bucher of Astoria; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were one son, Edward; one stepson, Gary Corman; one brother, Donald; one sister, Hildreth; and one grandchild.

He farmed his entire life and also was a truck driver. He worked at the MSD plant in St. David for three years.

He was a member of Browning Christian Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Michael Barton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Christian Neck Cemetery in Rushville.

Memorials may be made to his church.
