Lester Bucher Dies Suddenly Saturday

Lester E. Bucher, 55, died unexpectedly at his home in Woodland Township about 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Bucher was born July 14, 1907, in Woodland Township, a son of Cyrus and Mabel Miller Bucher. He was married to Esther Ewing in Astoria March 17, 1928, and she survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Astoria; one son, Delmar, of Astoria; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Lou Brown of Havana; a brother, Sherman, of Astoria; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Schmitt of Chillicothe, Miss Merle Bucher, and Mrs. Mildred Foutch of Astoria; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Merland.

Mr. Bucher was owner and operator of the Woodland Fruit Farm and had been in the apple orchard business all of his life.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Woodland Church of the Brethren. Rev. Galen Gerdes officiated, and burial was in the Woodland cemetery. Miss Kay Werner served as organist with Merlyn Bowman, Roy Wickert and William Palmer, vocalists. Pallbearers were Ross Wilson, Jerry Belville, Buddy Maxwell, Jerry Bubb, Earl Nichols, and William Merrill.
