Delmar Bucher

Delmar G. Bucher, 79, of Astoria died at 8:02 a.m. Sept. 30, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born June 4, 1929, in Astoria, the son of Lester Edmund and Esther Mae Ewing Bucher. He married Betty Jane Garrettson on June 6, 1948, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gary (and Janelle) Bucher of Bellevue, Neb.; four daughters, Teresa (and Lewis) Cline of Yorktown, Va., Amy (and Mike) Wear of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Trella (and Don) Howe of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Ketra Jo Bucher of Astoria; one sister, Mabel Lou (and William) Brown of Astoria; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was a farmer and worked at International Harvester in Canton for 29 years, retiring in 1984. He also drove a school bus for Astoria Community School District. He was a member of Astoria Christian Church, where he served as deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets and Ray Artrip officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
