Marshall Yost

Marshall E. Yost, 86, of Astoria died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born June 6, 1917, in Astoria, a son of Henry and Mary Miller Yost. He married Iantha Darlene Walters on May 1, 1941, in Bader. She died Aug. 1, 1987.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Welch and Anna Davison.

Surviving are two sons, Stephen of Havana and Wendell (and Beverly) of DuQuoin; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel (and Ruth) of Modesto, Calif; and one sister, Ruth Waggoner of Astoria.

He worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria for 10 years, farmed in the Astoria area and worked for King-Sealy in Macomb for 30 years, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau and the National Rifle Association.

He was a member of Astoria Christian Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Jim Comstock and Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the memorial home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church.
