Marjorie Wherley

Marjorie WherleyMarjorie Louise Wherley, 79, of Table Grove died at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 24, 2007, at the home of her daughter.

She was born June 26, 1928, in Wayne County, a daughter of Daniel Everett and Lura Mae Leathers Palmer. She married Pius Wendell “Jack” Wherley on Feb. 23, 1946, in Quincy. He died Oct. 29, 1997.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Larry; two sisters, Doris Adams and Kathryn Laswell; one brother, Robert Palmer; and one great-granddaughter, Rylie.

Surviving are one son, Edward (and Mary Jo) Wherley of Table Grove; one daughter, Beverly (and Tom) Yocum of Monroeville, Ala.; two sisters, Barbara McCarty of Bushnell and Peggy (and Dan) Elliott of Collinsville; two brothers, Bill (and Joyce) Palmer of Rushville and Dan (and Joyce) Palmer of Bernadotte; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

She was a 53-year member of American Legion Auxiliary in Table Grove.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Ken Peterson officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
