HERSCHEL J. WORKMAN

VeteranHerschel Workman Dies On Sept. 12

Herschel J. Workman, 61, of 306 W. 6th St., Beardstown, died at 11:37 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1989.

He was born Oct. 16, 1927, at Sheldons Grove, the son of Dewey T. and Eva (Stambaugh) Workman. He married Daretta Taylor on July 3, 1950, at Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Karen Hymes, Kathy Collison and Kay Utter, all of Beardstown; three grandchildren; four brothers, Lyle of Cuba, Robert of Pekin, Frank of Frederick and Max of Rushville; four sisters, Betty Scego of Browning, Audrey Rining of Frederick, Linda Eddington of Ipava and Bonnie Trone of Princeville.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown. He was employed at the Glove Factory, Illico Oil Co., and the hospital, all in Beardstown, before taking a medical retirement.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at his church with Rev. James H. Beaty officiating. Burial was in Beardstown City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the American Heart Fund.
